Race car beds are standard products coming out from a factory outlet. But how often do you see race cars on the track looking like they all came from the same factory?
In the same way, your child's race car bed doesn't have to look like
the same one that his friend at school has. Try giving his race car its
own personality by adding some accessories to it with a touch of unique
design. Here's how.
Bed Lights
Bed lights are one of the most common bed accessories used with children’s beds. Especially with race car beds, which parents used in part, to accommodate the transition of their child from toddlers bed to full beds. Some children are afraid of the sleeping alone in the dark, bed lights serve to allay some of their fears and make this transition easier.
For older children, bed lights are also useful for bed time reading and for looking for items at the bed top. Instead of having to climb out of bed to switch on the bedroom lights, bed lights are much more convenient and within reach. The warm cozy bed light isn’t too glaring, making it suitable for activities right before one gets into the mood for sleep.
Bedrails
Young children sleeping in full beds for the first time are also prone to falling off the sides of their beds. Although a hard fall rarely does happen, it’s the fear of falling that actually keeps most young children from daring to make the switch to full beds.
Race car beds are among the first full beds that young children will first sleep in, and while race car beds usually have a slightly raised bed side; the bed sides are not significant and children can still roll over them easily in their sleep.
Bedrails fit on the bedside as raised platforms that aid the child in delineating the bed edge, therefore giving the child comfort and security. This in turn allows the child to have a good night’s sleep.
In order not to destroy the overall look of the race car bed, bedrails for race car beds can be specially decorated to blend into the look of the race car. Read more about bedrails for race car beds.
Car Dials
No race car is complete without monitoring dials like speedometers, oil temperature meters and what not. In the same way, race car beds are not complete without similar car dials. These car dials are of course, fakes, but they needn’t be only for aesthetic purposes.
Race car bed car dials can be used to display time, temperature and even be used as an alarm clock. Some fake car dials can also be converted into bed lights.
But car dials can be problematic if your child has a habit of tearing things apart. The dials are fairly easy to remove and may even pose choking hazards. In this case, it is still possible to decorate the race car bed with car dials, but not with real physical dials. Car dials can be painted onto a wall adjoining the race car bed, acting much as real dials on the car.
Car Horn
Race cars do actually come equipped with car horns even though you almost never hear them being used on the track. Hardcore race car lovers will want their race car beds equipped with horns as well. But for the sake of not disturbing everyone else at home, race car bed horns are just diminutive versions of true horns and therefore not as loud. For young children who are not particular about having pseudo car horns, parents can also consider baby musical toys disguised as a car horn for the race car bed.
Musical toys are commonly used in cribs, but nowadays, musical toys are also targeted at older children. They are good as bedside accessories, especially for calming hysterical children who just woke up from a nightmare. Read more about baby musical toys.
License Plates
A car’s license plate is like its name card. And like a real race car, race car beds ought to have their own identity. Not only do car license plates complete the look of the race car bed, they allow your child to be able to name and call the bed their own. And what better way to place a license plate on your child’s race car bed than with one spelling his or her name? You child will love you for it.
