Race Car Beds Review #3:
Little Tikes Lightning McQueen Twin Race Car Bed

The Lightning McQueen race car bed is the real McCoy when it comes to race car beds that have to do with the original sensation, Cars.

Almost all parents who have bought this race car bed absolutely loved it.

Parents have a very easy time convincing their children to go to bed alone, most don’t even need convincing, children can’t wait to get started with driving their race car. The material used for the bed is sturdy heavy duty plastic, so there is no worry that the bed cannot hold up your child’s weight.

The bed design is a sporty race car mimicking the car body of Lightning McQueen in the animation. The body frame is fairly heavy and requires assembling before use. This makes it rather difficult to fix up especially if you are not exactly strong or you’re the mum.

And the bed sides are very low if you use it with a box spring, so you can either remove the box spring and simply place the mattress in, or install bed rails on the sides to keep your kid from falling over.

The sides are also decorated with stickers that make the car look even more stylish. Unfortunately, the sticker decals are also where most of the complaints from parents come from.

Putting the sticker decals on posed a great challenge for most parents. The stickers either don’t look symmetrical, get stick on the wrong way, or they end up with bubbles caught within. Putting the stickers on isn’t going to be easy, but here’s some tips that probably will help out a lot.

Firstly, put the stickers onto the bed before assembling. It’s easier to handle the parts separately then when they are put together, especially with the decals at the wheels, you can’t quite reach them after putting the race car bed up. But you need to line up the parts probably to make sure the stickers are going up in the right direction.

Before putting on the stickers, use a cloth soaked with water to clean the area where the sticker will be. This makes the sticker decal last much longer, since a dusty surface will cause the decal to come off quickly over time. A wetted surface will also make it easy to realign the sticker in case you make a mistake. Only when the water dries up, will the sticker stick firmly onto the surface.

When putting on the stickers, start from the center and work towards the side instead of going from one side to the other. That way, you can work on the bubbles more easily. Use a small object like a pin and push the bubbles to the edges to get them out. This is where the wetted surface helps a lot.

In any case, you should try putting on the stickers on the side of the race car bed which will face the inside of the room. So in case the stickers still don’t work out after all the tips above, at least you get a second try to do better on the stickers that will be obvious to visitors to the room.

Some users also complain that the sticker decals peel off very soon, probably because they weren’t placed onto cleaned surfaces. But either way, the bed frame will definitely outlast the stickers, and the decals don’t appear to be available for order anywhere except with another race car bed.

Putting on the decals is tough, but usually it’s the parents that are going too hard on themselves. You can’t actually see both sides of the race car bed at a go, so no one will notice if they are not 100% symmetrical. Remember, no one will notice all that small imperfections except yourself.

And if all else fails, and you really did messed up the sticker decals, you should take heart in that your kid will still love you for the gift!
