Little Tikes Race Car Twin Bed

Little Tikes are well known for producing sturdy and durable children’s products. And their race car twin bed is no different.

The Little Tikes race car bed is sporty, spacious and good looking. Most children, including parents, fall in love with the race car bed at first sight.

The bed is made of heavy duty plastic and it is very durable. It is also fairly large, therefore it is suitable for older kids, and if you are using it for a young child, it can last him or her for a long time to come.

However, the large size of the race car bed poses some problems as well. It is larger than even a normal twin bed although it only accommodates sleeping up to twin bed size because the race car frame takes up additional space. This makes the bed impractical if you are constrained by a small bed room size.

Many people also complain about the spacing between the mattress and bed. Not only do toys and other small stuff drop underneath the bed, making it a hassle to clean up; there have been cases when young children even fall through the gaps and get themselves trapped in-between.

Some users have recommended stuffing the gaps with pillows or comforters, but some active children have also managed to pull out these protections, only to get themselves trapped also. But some parents love the gap in the design because it makes making the bed much easier as comforters can be stuffed all the way under the mattress.

The bed sides come up a little low for some parents who are worried that their child may fall off their beds. You can either remove the box spring underneath to lower the mattress or install bed rails on the sides of the bed. Removing the box spring will bring the sides high up, making it somewhat like a cozy cot.

Some users also complained about the fact that the front end of the bed is protruding because its shaped like a race car. People can accidentally kick the protruding part of the bed when walking around in the room. But this has to do with arranging the bed in a way that the protruding part does not stick out into the walking area.

Because the race car bed is made of plastic, it can get uncomfortably cold to the touch especially during the winter months. Ironically, it’s the fact that it is plastic that the bed can withstand cold temperatures without cracking or splintering.

Despite the small complains some users seem to have on the race car twin bed, most users get on fine without any complains. Most parents and their children love their race car bed from Little Tikes and continue to use it for many years to come even when their children have out grown their love for race car beds.
